ASTM A29 specification is standard specification for Steel Bars, Carbon and Alloy, Hot-Wrought, General Requirements. There are following kind of carbon and alloy steel bars under this standard: hot rolled carbon steel bar, cold finished carbon steel bars, hot rolled alloy steel bars, cold finished alloy steel bars.
Alloy steels are much stronger than carbon steels, with better mechanical properties. They even have better resistance to corrosion because of the inclusion of different elements in their chemical composition. One such alloy steel is the AISI 4140 Round Bar . This material may also be referred to as chrome-moly steel because of the significant addition of chromium and molybdenum to its alloy. Many 4140 Round Bar Suppliers refer to this alloy as chrome-moly steel despite the fact that the content of chromium in its alloy does not match up to that of conventional stainless steels (Chromium in stainless steel alloys are higher in comparison to this alloy). One of the most attractive features of the Round Bar Aisi 4140 is that the material exhibits an outstanding weight to strength ratio. This means that despite having a lower weight, the high strength of the alloy is enough to last for difficult or tough applications. While regular steel alloys have corrosion resistance properties that range between little to none, the elemental composition of the Aisi 4140 Steel Bar ensures a better offering of this property. While some materials exhibit toughness and hardness, there are instances where the uniformity of these properties comes into play. By adding molybdenum to Aisi 4140 Flat Bar , there is uniformity in both properties i.e - strength and hardness in the material, making them the better alternative.
