Applications
C45E steel is widely used in machinery manufacturing, the mechanical properties of this steel is very good. But this is a medium carbon steel, quenching performance is not good, C45E steel can be hardened to HRC42 ~ 46. So if you need surface hardness, but also hope to play C45E steel superior mechanical properties, often C45E steel surface carburizing and quenching, so you can get the required surface hardness.
Heat treatment
C45E steel is not tempered before quenching, the hardness is greater than HRC55 (up to HRC62) is qualified. Practical application of the highest hardness of HRC55 (high-frequency quenching HRC58).
C45E steel do not use carburizing and quenching heat treatment process. Quenched and tempered parts have good overall mechanical properties and are used in a wide range of important structural components, especially those that work under alternating loads such as connecting rods, bolts, gears and shafts.
